The Scientific Research Association (SRA) is a civil non-governmental organization that exists since 1994, formed on the initiative of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy in Skopje, whose main goal and mission are to encourage and affirm scientific research thinking, promote science among students, and enable the actualization of progressive scientific ideas, supporting their creativity and student activism, and encouraging the future scientists to step onto the path of science.
The people taking a part in SRA are active students, professors, and assistants from the Faculty of Pharmacy, UKIM-Skopje, other faculties of UKIM and other universities in Macedonia, along with collaboration and exchange students from abroad. No less significant are the alumni as well as science and nature enthusiasts who have provided significant support to the organization throughout the years. The work of SRA is based entirely on students’ enthusiasm for realizing ideas beyond the standard study program. SRA actively collaborates with other research organizations and associations at UKIM, the Macedonian Pharmaceutical Society, many foundations as well as pharmaceutical companies whose support is essential for the successful functioning of SRA.
Throughout the association’s 30 years of existence, we remain focused on providing an environment for training and scientific research in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacognosy, and botany. Additionally, we are committed to engaging in initiatives for environmental and biodiversity protection.
SRA has accomplished many other activities and projects such as the European Pharmaceutical Summer Seminar (EPSS), which was held for the first time in Ohrid in 2016, where topics related to psychoactive components of natural origin are discussed, and professors, assistants, and students from all over Europe participate. SRA also organizes workshops, debates, and lectures on current topics, industry visits, motivational excursions, and social events.
